Charlottesville Flu Update

Should You Be Vaccinated?

The Center for Disease Control is recommending flu shots for everyone over the age of 6 months. This especially applies to people with medical problems such as diabetes, asthma, lung disease, smokers, cardiac disease, the elderly and very young. By getting vaccinated, you can help stop the development of an epidemic before it starts.

Who Should Not Be Vaccinated?

You should not get the flu shot if you have an egg allergy or an acute temperature over 101 degrees farenheit.

How Effective Are Flu Shots?

Flu shots are 75% effective; however, they often help prevent the development of more severe illness.

Flu Vaccine Side Effects

Flu vaccine side effects vary. 30% of receipients may have muscle soreness at the site and 10% may have a mild flu like reaction.
